His collaborations span Drum & Bass, Dancehall, Dub, Dubstep, Jazz and experimental. Though immediately recognisable, his style can vary massively. Lyrical eloquence full of consciousness and empowerment, he is always breaking new ground at the same time as never losing his roots. Presenting his thoughts in a rooted, lowkey style that resonates with the delivery and impetus of classic dub poetry from Linton Kwesi Johnson and Mutabaruka. “I’ve got lots of different aspects to my personality. UK music borrows from lots of different elements, so as a vocalist there are lots of things that inspire me. It’s like a melting pot and that’s why my style is how it is, it’s a reflection of who I am. ” R I D E R S H A F I Q U E 'I-Dentity' is one of his proudest works, drawing on his own experiences of growing up in British society to create two tracks of spoken meditations on racial identity. In addition to his music projects, Rider Shafique is a multi-disciplinary creative and photographer. Curating to educate and inspire for his projects I-DENTITY and Black Creatives, which celebrate diversity and culture by exploring identity through creativity. Leading on, and taking part in community-focused documentary films, workshops, exhibitions, and events. “My photography is predominantly a reflection of Black British life, and all different aspects of that. I want to write my own narrative, be the author of my own stories. I hope that my work can　start conversations, bring us closer, and take on board the similarities we have, the common　themes of humanity rather than focus on the differences. I would like my work to reflect me, my experience, my communities, and to inspire others to do the same.
